Nursing Reflection Journal

Introduction

The purpose of reflective journaling is to allow you to engage in the process of self-reflection as a learner in a master’s program. It serves as a meaningful way to connect your learning experiences with your professional journey, encouraging deeper insight into your evolving identity as a nurse leader. Through reflective practice, you will set goals in personal, professional, and leadership development. Another core component of professional development includes consideration of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles that guide interactions with colleagues and clients. Recognizing and valuing diverse perspectives enriches your understanding of patient care and workplace collaboration. You will evaluate your own feelings about DEI and how it shapes your actions and decisions. Through reflective journaling, you can personally reflect on your behaviors, thoughts, and decisions, and how those impact you in the role of your designated discipline. The habit of journaling fosters self-awareness and accountability, helping you grow both personally and professionally. Through this reflection, you will self-reflect as a learner in a master’s program, with a focus on personal, professional, and leadership development DEI principle. Taking time for intentional reflection enhances the quality of your practice and aligns your actions with ethical nursing standards.
