Federal Income Tax (or Information) software that you<br \/>\nmay have access to) that is located on the Network System in the Computer<br \/>\nCenter on the Eight floor (South) at the University Of Houston-Downtown Campus<br \/>\n(and the second floor classrooms in the Shea Street College Of Business<br \/>\nBuilding) (or on the personal computers at UHD-Northwest at Lone Star College-University Park).\u00a0 If you choose<br \/>\nto prepare the Income Tax (or Information) Return using the ProSeries<br \/>\n(TurboTax) software in the Computer Center (or at UHD-Northwest at Lone Star College-University Park), the following information applies.\u00a0 The ProSeries (TurboTax) software may be<br \/>\naccessed from any personal computer in the Computer Center that is connected to<br \/>\nthe Network System at the University Of Houston-Downtown Campus (or on the personal<br \/>\ncomputers on the personal computers at UHD-Northwest at Lone Star College-University Park).\u00a0 Please bring a<br \/>\ndevice\u00a0 to the Computer Center in order<br \/>\nto save your data.\u00a0 (Please be sure that<br \/>\nthe device is capable of saving your data).\u00a0<br \/>\nTo assist you in using the ProSeries (TurboTax) software, an operator&#8217;s<br \/>\nmanual is available in the Computer Center (or at UHD-Northwest at Lone Star College-University Park).\u00a0 Below is a<br \/>\nlisting of basic instructions in operating the software.<br \/>\nINSTRUCTIONS<br \/>\nClick on START<br \/>\nand enter &#8220;PROGRAMS&#8221; and locate &#8220;ProSeries 2014&#8221;.\u00a0 Click on &#8220;2014 ProSeries&#8221;.\u00a0 The software will appear on the screen.<br \/>\nCREATING CLIENT\/INPUTTING DATA<br \/>\nClick on &#8220;New&#8221; to create a new<br \/>\nclient.\u00a0 The first document that you will<br \/>\nenter (automatically appears on the screen) will be the &#8220;Federal Information<br \/>\nWorksheet&#8221;.\u00a0 Complete all necessary<br \/>\ninformation on the &#8220;Federal Information Worksheet&#8221;.\u00a0 To enter specific tax related information,<br \/>\nyou must enter the form, schedule or document that relate to the tax related<br \/>\ninformation you wish to enter.\u00a0 For example,<br \/>\nto enter information for wages earned by the taxpayers, go to &#8220;Form<br \/>\nW-2&#8221; and enter the appropriate information; to enter information for a<br \/>\nself-employed person, go to &#8220;Schedule C&#8221; and enter the appropriate<br \/>\ninformation; to enter information regarding rental property, go to<br \/>\n&#8220;Schedule E&#8221; and enter the appropriate information, etc.\u00a0 To go to a specific form or document, you may<br \/>\neither click on &#8220;Forms&#8221; (and then click on \u201cSelect Form\u201d), hit<br \/>\nthe &#8220;F6&#8221; key or hit &#8220;Control F&#8221; then highlight the desired<br \/>\nform, schedule or document (or press the lighted letter(s) and\/or number(s) of<br \/>\nthe desired form, schedule or document) and press return (enter).<\/p>\n<p>WORKSHEETS<br \/>\nIn many cases, information may (or must) be entered into<br \/>\na worksheet which is automatically transferred to where needed in the<br \/>\nrespective Income Tax Returns.\u00a0 This is<br \/>\nespecially true for Schedule E (Rental Property) for entering information for<br \/>\nRental Property, etc.\u00a0 Accordingly, pay<br \/>\nattention to the many worksheets that are available for the Return you are<br \/>\npreparing to see if certain information may (or must) be entered through a<br \/>\nworksheet instead of directly in the Forms and\/or Schedules of the Income Tax<br \/>\nReturn itself.<br \/>\nDEPRECIATION<br \/>\nTo enter depreciation information, either click on<br \/>\n&#8220;Forms&#8221; (and then click on \u201cSelect Form\u201d), hit the<br \/>\n&#8220;F6&#8221; key or hit &#8220;Control F&#8221; and enter the &#8220;Depr Entry<br \/>\nWks&#8221;.\u00a0 Enter a description of the<br \/>\nasset to be depreciated and press return (enter).\u00a0 Highlight the Form or Schedule the asset<br \/>\nrelates to and press return in 2014)<br \/>\nto recover the cost of using her automobile for business purposes.\u00a0 In 2014, Rosalyn also paid $200 for parking<br \/>\nand toll fees while using the automobile for business Taxes (Their State General Sales Tax Rate is 6.25% and their<br \/>\nLocal General Sales Tax Rate is 2.00% for a Total Sales Tax Rate of 8.25%).<br \/>\n(h)\u00a0 The Kellys paid an unrelated<br \/>\nhousekeeper\/child caretaker, Shelly R.
