Availability management is an important part of the ITIL that provides the ability of the configuration items to perform their desired activities. The main importance of availability management is to direct an organization and solve issues concerning availability (Morris, & Gallacher, 2016). Availability management plays a critical role in creating and maintaining an availability plan that provides business requirements both for the present and the future. Also, availability management help in ensuring that the availability plan meets the business’s target. However, any form of unavailability is minimized, hence accountability is improved in an organization. Additionally, availability management minimized information technology failures, especially service unavailability.
Information security management is the most critical in improving the ITIL service value system. However, information security management prevents, detects, and correct security activities (Morris, & Gallacher, 2016). For instance, information security management assists protect network security systems from any form of security threats. The management team also develops various security management methods, such as offering training services and awareness concerning security risks and vulnerabilities.
Additionally, information security management helps detect any form of malicious activities using anti-malware software and anti-viruses (Morris, & Gallacher, 2016). Lastly, information security management promotes the recovery and application of information learnt concerning security. ITIL information security best practices include preparation, escalation, analysis, recovery, and post-incident activities.
Capacity management in ITIL has a wide range of tasks. Some of the roles of capacity management in ITIL includes optimization of information technology resources, development of a capacity plan, and management of computing services. Capacity management in ITIL promotes consistency in reporting, decision-making, capacity efficiency and reduces cases of redundancy work (Morris, & Gallacher, 2016). Capacity management plays a very important role in ITIL and the organization, especially in establishing a growth plan.
IT service continuity management in ITIL reduces any form of downtime, hence improving the continuity of customer services (Morris, & Gallacher, 2016). Also, IT service continuity management reduces any form of disruptions that may affect the business and control the recovery of information systems.
