Crime Reports in the United States
The crimes reports in the United States is a voluntary crimes statistics achieved through the contribution of various law enforcement agencies. Since 1930, the crime reports have been performed yearly to analyse, assess and monitoring the types of crime and their frequency. The process involves studying state criminal codes and practising recordkeeping (FBI, 2019). The offences are classified according to similarity and implications for the crimes are also detailed.
There are seven offences and they include criminal homicide, rape, aggravated assault, larceny, robbery, burglary and grand theft (BJS, 2019). In 1979, arson was also added to the list. Even though the committee was formed in 1920, the actual participation of statistics began in 1930. Criminal homicide involves the willful killing of another human and killing of other human beings due to negligence. Rape involves the forceful sexual penetration of a female against her will. Aggravated assault crime include an attack caused to a person intentionally causing them severe harm. Larceny involves the taking away of an item from a person to deprive them of its use permanently. Burglary is theft through forced entry into a structure. Robbery I theft carried out by the use of force, threats or violence. Over the past quarter, these statistics have enabled law enforcement to reduce crime rate tremendously (Gramlich, 2019). These are but a few implication details of what the various crimes entail.
In conclusion, all the various crime are tabulated per year to analyse the statistics for further study. Experts may use the data to asses which crimes are trending within a particular region and also come up with strategies to minimise crime rates where necessary.
