At community counseling agencies, case staffing meetings are held on a regular basis to ensure the quality and consistency of the counseling assessment and therapeutic services being delivered. These meetings provide a collaborative environment for counselors to discuss client progress and refine their approaches. This assignment will assist you in your assessment and diagnosis of clients and will also prepare you for case staffing meetings in the field.
Imagine that you work for a community counseling agency where you participate in weekly case staffing meetings. You have been asked to showcase one of the clients you have been counseling in the next staffing meeting. Your presentation will allow your colleagues to offer feedback and insights based on your case.
Create a brief scenario of a client with a sexual disorder currently listed in the DSM-5.
Create a 10- to 12-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation that includes speaker notes to present the case scenario to your colleagues. This format ensures that your colleagues can follow both visually and through detailed explanations.
Include the following in your presentation:
Summarize your client scenario and the symptoms reported.
Describe the biological and environmental factors influencing this client. Understanding these factors will help tailor an effective treatment plan.
Analyze ethical considerations for counseling this client. Explain how to ethically respond to any dilemmas that may arise.
Ethical awareness is crucial to maintaining professional standards and client trust.
Describe 2 to 3 assessment tools you may use with this client and the pros and cons of each.
Justify the use of the treatment approach with research. This justification strengthens the credibility of your proposed interventions.
Provide a diagnosis of the presenting problem.
Propose a treatment plan for this client and include specific interventions to be used. Your treatment plan should reflect evidence-based practices suited to the client’s needs.
